How much does fostering pay?

Common Questions

Generally, the foster carer assessment process takes between 4 to 5 months, but this can sometimes take longer depending on individual circumstances. As the process starts, you will be allocated your own social worker who will talk you through each step and help you complete any paperwork as part of your fostering assessment.

How much does fostering pay is one of our most frequently asked questions! Once you are approved as a foster carer and allocated your first placement, an allowance will be calculated based on your experience and the circumstances of the child/children placed with you. Fostering a child or young person is unique each time – allowances also differ to reflect this. Our knowledgeable team will be happy to run through this with you. During the fostering assessment process numerous foster carer checks will be undertaken to evaluate your suitability as a potential foster carer. These will include a medical check, personal and professional references, and a DBS check. This may seem daunting, but they are in place to safeguard and protect our children and young people.

As part of the foster carer assessment, you will be allocated a dedicated assessor who will visit and work with you to produce a fostering assessment document (Form F) which will contain details about you, your skills, and relevant life experiences to demonstrate your suitability as a foster carer.

Your dedicated assessor and the team at Olive Branch will be available to provide advice and support throughout the carer assessment process and beyond.

Olive Branch Contact Us

Don't just take our word for it...

It was great to be able to book an evening call with Olive Branch when we were both home from work. Sarah called us at the time we requested and couldn't have been more helpful. We asked lots of questions and Sarah spent her time explaining things to us in more detail. We didn't feel rushed and felt comfortable asking lots.
