Bonfire Night in the North West: What’s On For Families in 2025

Bonfire Night is fast approaching, and we know that families across the North West will be looking for budget-friendly fireworks displays and bonfires in their area.
If you’re stuck for something to do on Guy Fawkes Night, here’s what’s on for families in 2025.
Families in Lancashire are spoilt for choice when it comes to Bonfire Night events and fireworks displays this year.
If you live in Rossendale, head to Rawtenstall Cricket Club on Friday the 7th of November for their annual bonfire and fireworks display. The event is ticketed, with a family ticket for four costing just £16 plus booking fee.
Haigh Woodland Park in Wigan is holding a Family Firework Spectacular on Sunday the 2nd of November, while this year’s Blackburn Charity Bonfire is taking place in Witton Country Park on Saturday the 1st of November.
Light Up Astley is back for another year. This fantastic free event in Astley Park, Chorley, includes a bonfire, fireworks and light installations and promises great fun for all the family. This year’s event will be taking place on Friday the 7th of November from 5pm, with all donations going towards the mayor’s chosen charities.
We understand that not everyone is a fan of the big bangs - our furry four-legged companions included, so for an animal-friendly alternative, why not head to Mere Sands in Ormskirk for their Dog Friendly Bonfire Night Celebration? The event will take place on Wednesday the 5th of November, and there’ll be an eco-friendly bonfire, hot drinks and sweet treats with live music from local performers.
Brockholes Nature Reserve in Preston is also holding a Wildlife Friendly Bonfire Night Event on Saturday the 1st of November. Specially designed for families with young children, the evening’s activities include a magic show, traditional fairground games like hook-a-duck and a coconut shy, balloon-animal making, and of course a bonfire. Plus, unlimited marshmallow roasting is included in the price of your ticket!

Over on the coast, there’s a whole host of fun happening for Bonfire Night.
Fireworks Night at St Anne’s Cricket Club is back, promising to be bigger and better than ever, and with prices starting from just £3.41 per ticket for kids, it’s a budget-friendly option too.
Blackpool Cricket Club are holding their Bonfire Night festivities on the night itself. Family tickets are £15, with the bonfire lit at 7.30pm and fireworks at 8.15pm. There’ll also be food, drinks, rides and games.
Alternatively, head to Cottam Hall Playing Fields for Poulton Bonfire & Fireworks Night on Wednesday the 5th of November. Gates open at 5.45 and a family ticket for four is £18.
Sadly, Manchester City Council have confirmed that council-organised Bonfire Night events, such as the popular fireworks displays at Heaton Park and Cringle Park, will once again not be going ahead in 2025.
However, don’t panic! Families in Greater Manchester still have a great selection of Bonfire Night events and fireworks displays to choose from this year.
Bredbury St Mark’s Cricket Club will be holding their annual BSMCC Fireworks in Stockport on Saturday the 1st of November, with the fireworks display starting at 8pm. Plus there’ll be fire-breathing acts, fairground rides and a live DJ!

Radcliffe Cricket Club are putting on a themed firework display timed to music! This one’s taking place a little earlier than others on Saturday the 25th of October so get it in your calendar now!
Salford Council are holding two organised fireworks displays for 2025, with one at Buile Hill on Saturday the 1st of November, and another at Prince’s Park in Irlam the following evening. Meanwhile, Rochdale Council have confirmed three free Bonfire Night events for 2025: Middleton on Monday the 3rd of November, Heywood on Tuesday the 4th of November, plus an organised bonfire and fireworks display on Cronkeyshaw Common on Thursday the 6th of November.
There’ll also be a ticketed community bonfire and fireworks display at West Didsbury and Chorlton AFC on the 2nd of November.

Cheshire is gearing up for a big bang this Guy Fawkes Night, with events taking place across the county, including the famed Betley Bonfire - one of the largest Bonfire Night events in the UK!
There’s also the Annual Rotary Bonfire and Fireworks Night in Congleton Park on Saturday the 1st of November, followed by the Lord Mayor’s Fireworks Extravaganza on Saturday the 8th of November at the historic Chester Racecourse.
For a smaller-scale community event, head to St Helen’s Church in the centre of Tarporley for their annual Fireworks Display and Bonfire in aid of the local scouts group.
There’s loads going on in and around Liverpool this Bonfire Night.
West Kirby Sailing Club is holding a fireworks display to raise money for lifeboat charity, the RNLI. The event will take place on Saturday the 1st of November.
Prescott & Odyssey Cricket Club are hosting a fireworks display with food, drink, and a DJ. A family ticket costs £25 and under threes are free.
Or you could skip the fireworks this year, wrap up warm and head to the Liverpool Waterfront for the 2025 River of Light. These incredible installations will be lighting up the city every night from 5-9pm running from the 24th of October to the 2nd of November, and are free to attend.
